NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, USA, April 28, 2022 / — The 14th annual New York Independent Film Festival in New York will take place June 12-19 at the Producer’s Club on West 44th St in Manhattan. More than 180 movies, including documentaries, feature films, short films and animations, will be screened during this week, in the presence of the filmmakers. After the screening, visitors can chat directly with the directors of their film.

COVID-19 has nearly crippled the film industry. Movie attendance in cinemas came to a complete halt for almost two years. And alongside the narrowing of the screening window, the production and distribution of new films has been disrupted. The NYC Independent Film Festival held a digital edition in 2020 and a smaller live version in 2021, but is fully back now in 2022, with a full live edition at the Producer’s Club from June 12-19 and the awards show on June 19. June. at the Theater Center on 50 St and Broadway.

With the covid pandemic almost over, it’s time for a real festival again, where moviegoers and filmmakers from all over the world can meet and enjoy new films. The NYC Independent Film Festival is especially for independent filmmakers who do not have the support of major production companies or international distribution companies. The filmmakers selected for the NYC Independent Film Festival are often creators, screenwriters, producers, cinematographers and directors all rolled into one. For them, the festival is the ideal platform to launch their new film and reach a large audience in New York. And to make important contacts in the world of cinema.

For 14 consecutive years, festival director Dennis Cieri, himself a documentary filmmaker, has been committed to independent cinema and its promotion. “Much of today’s entertainment is idol-based, where the person is known to be famous and no other excellence has been lost,” he says. “While independent filmmakers have their place in the return of films of ideas and passion.” This is why, according to Cieri, they are so important and necessary.
