“The Boogeyman” was first published in Cavalier adult magazine in 1973, but is best known for being part of night patrol, Stephen King’s first collection of short stories published in 1978. The story centers on a fragile man named Lester Billings who believes his three young children have been murdered by a supernatural entity he calls The Boogeyman. It recounts how her offspring died from a psychiatrist named Dr. Harper, emphasizing the protagonist’s failed efforts to preserve the life of her third baby, and the story ends with a deadly twist that confirms the worst fears. of Lester.

This will be the first time Boogeyman has been adapted as a feature.

The most recent writer to refine the script, however, has been Mark Heyman – best known for writing Black Swan and The Skeleton Twins. Heyman’s adaptation will need to make significant changes to the source material to expand it to length, but it’s unclear at this time what those changes will be.

Rob Savage is attached to direct

Since January 2022, by Deadline, The bogeyman has begun building its cast, and while we can’t say much about the respective roles the actors will play, their involvement in the production is exciting in itself. Chris Messina has proven to be one of the industry’s most loyal actors, and Sophie Thatcher has garnered a lot of attention thanks to her roles in yellow jackets and Boba Fett’s Book. The film will be a Hulu Original

When it comes to Stephen King adaptations, Hulu thus far has been all about series – mini or ongoing. Time travel adventure 22.11.63 was the service’s first (the eight-episode show running week-to-week in early 2016), and it was followed by two seasons of stone castle (which aired 20 episodes between two seasons from 2018 to 2019). As a major streamer, however, Hulu doesn’t discriminate when it comes to support, and The bogeyman will be made as their first original feature film based on a King story. Hopefully, the film will achieve equal success with its serialized predecessors.

Production on The Boogeyman is set to begin in early 2022

Currently, Gary Dauberman’s remake of Salem Bundle is the only official Stephen King adaptation on the 2022 film release schedule, but that is subject to change. Not only are we expected to see Keith Thomas Fire starter and John Lee Hancock Mr. Harrigan’s phone before the end of December, but it is possible that we can see the online premiere of The bogeyman also. Indeed, principal photography on the film is expected to begin sometime in February or March, based on Deadline’s report (linked above), and it’s hard to imagine it will have an exceptionally long production schedule. . Could it end up hitting Hulu in the last three months of the year? We will have to wait and see.
