The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival honors one of the biggest names in cinema in October.
Oscar winner Oliver Stone will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award on October 16 at the Lensic Performing Arts Center.
After the ceremony, a film by Stone will be screened.
“Sir. Oliver Stone is one of the greatest American filmmakers of our time,” said Jacquez Paisner, artistic director of SFiFF. “He dared to make a difference and his courage has had an unparalleled impact on the arts.”
Stone began his film career as a writer and won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the 1978 film “Midnight Express”.
He also won Oscars for directing “Born of the Fourth of July” and “Platoon”.
The 13th annual SFIFF will take place October 13-17.
Over the five days of the festival, the organizers will present more than 100 world-class film screenings, filmmaker Q&A, film discussions and panels, interactive workshops and networking events.
Festival passes are on sale now, organizers say, while individual tickets will be available in late September on santafeindependentfilmfestival.com.
