Trinidad and Tobago Film Company Ltd (FilmTT) will announce the completion of its Business of Film: Script to Screen program with a live broadcast on TTT on September 30 at 7:30 p.m.
The Pitch will feature a program recap, participant comments and judges’ comments as well as a speech by Trade and Industry Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon, a press release said.
The Script to Screen program aimed to position stakeholders in a better advantage through access to business opportunities and professional growth. Local and international industry professionals facilitated the sessions, which included practical elements and financial incentives. The workshops aimed to fill in the gaps by providing filmmakers with the appropriate skills for story / screenwriting, production tools, and marketing and distribution guidelines, the statement said.
Since the program began in May, 22 participants have been selected for five workshops led by stage 32 educator Jason Mirch. The virtual workshops took place via Zoom and focused on the main production areas of screenwriting, pre-production, production, post-production and marketing. Each session was followed by a hands-on exercise that provided participants with additional advice and feedback.
In August, ten of the 22 participants presented a two-minute pitch during the preliminary pitch phase, six of which qualified for the final pitch. The top three will receive Development Funding prizes and will be revealed on The Pitch on TTT.
The jury was made up of professionals from the creative industry: Calvin Bijou, president, CreativeTT; Abeo Jackson, actor, writer, director, creative producer; Sherese Moise of SM Elevation, LLC; Deborah Hoyte of ExportTT; Diane Robertson, TV Programming Manager, TTT; Lorraine O’Connor, Director of the Board of Directors of FilmTT and Lisa Wickham of Imagine Media International Ltd.
Leslie-Ann Wills-Caton, Executive Director of FilmTT, praised the pitches.
“Attendees have come a long way in their journey from script to screen with us and we are delighted to feature some of those moments and give them the opportunity to share their experiences with the audience via the live broadcast.” , Wills-Cato said. in the output.
