Crew United launches Filmmakers-for-Ukraine online platform

– The film network platform aims to support Ukrainian filmmakers and their families, as well as disadvantaged groups and minorities in Ukraine

Following the Russian attack on Ukraine, the Crew United team decided to focus their efforts on launching a dedicated online platform, Filmmakers-for-Ukraine, an information site where Ukrainian filmmakers and their families can find help quickly.

Together with professional associations, institutions and numerous industry colleagues, Crew United has worked tirelessly to create a platform whose stated objective is to inform in a simple and up-to-date way about the offers of help coming from all European countries.

The Film Network platform aims to support Ukrainian filmmakers and their families, as well as disadvantaged groups and minorities in Ukraine, such as BIPoC, LGBTQIA+, Roma, people with disabilities, children, the sick and the elderly.

In detail, the platform offers support opportunities in terms of transport, accommodation, work, medical assistance, food and clothing as well as contacts for psychological and legal help.

It also contains offers of help, fundraising campaigns, petitions and appeals from the film industry as well as a dedicated page curated by film journalists listing helpful sources. One of them, for example, is a blog that reports on the main cultural activities in favor of Ukraine and publishes urgent appeals for help from people in need. Meanwhile, the job and accommodation market on Crew United needs to be expanded to allow Ukrainian filmmakers to post jobs and accommodation.

Crew United has been active in Poland and France for a year now and is expected to expand operations to Lithuania, Romania, Greece, Italy and Spain. “Our real mission is to connect people to make films together, but right now it’s just more important to bring people together to help people. With Filmmakers-for-Ukraine we focus on work, offers and the network of originators in our industry, because we have excellent contacts there,” said the CEO of Crew United. Olivier Zengleinleveraging the resources of its extensive support network.

Filmmakers-for-Ukraine is urgently looking for industry partners and funders who can provide useful information and inform about planned activities, as well as volunteers to help keep the information well-structured and up-to-date. If you would like to help, please contact [email protected]
