Courtney Cox explains that the hardest part of filming the first installment of the Scream series was doing all of his own stunts in the film’s climactic sequence. Scream, a contemporary horror classic, was released in 1996 to acclaim from fans and critics.
However, Courtney Cox has become a Yell luminary of the series as Gale Weathers, a stubborn journalist eager to go all the way to get a good story. Gale was originally portrayed as an opponent of Campbell’s Sydney Prescott, but she has since embraced her former adversary and has become a vital part in stopping the Ghostface murderers who may appear in the film’s many sequels. Courteney Cox recently spoke with Sean Evans on YouTube channel First We Feast about the hardest part of filming the original Scream. When asked if it was true that the film’s final sequence was the most difficult element of the entire production, Courteney agreed and said, “Oh yeah, it’s difficult.”
She further stated, according to Screenrant, “You do all these stunts and you have blood and it’s sticky and anyway yeah it’s really hard to do the endgames of these. It’s so intense and i remember being younger doing this and i was doing all my stunts and it was ok and i thought i could do it again, and i did, but i was paying for it for sure .
Despite the terrible ending of the franchise’s first film, Cox continued to play Gale Weathers on the show and did many of his own stunts. While the first three films in the series were released back-to-back, Scream 4 and Scream (2022) were released nearly a decade later.
