American Independent Film Festival in Bucharest: Special guest Steven Spielberg will speak to fans online


Acclaimed American director Steven Spielberg is the special guest at this year’s American Independent Film Festival (AIFF) in Bucharest, organizers have announced.

The festival public will have the opportunity to enter into a dialogue with the famous filmmaker on Friday 15 April, after the screening of West Side Story at the Elvire Popesco Cinema. The conference, which will take place via Zoom and will last approximately one hour, will be moderated by film critic Andrei Gorzo.

“This year’s American Independent Film Festival pays a well-deserved tribute to this titan of American cinema with an essential triptych, ”we read in the Press release. Thus, the lineup of the event includes three of Spielberg’s films, namely ET the Alien, Duel, and West Side Story.

All proceeds from ticket sales for AIFF.6 will be donated to Save dogs and other animals directed by Sara Turetta. The association is the first NGO of its kind in the animal protection sector in Romania and is actively involved in supporting the families of Ukrainian refugees who cross into Romania through the border point of Isaccea.

The funds obtained from the Warm up that the AIFF organizes on April 16 and 17 at the Victoria Cinema in Cluj-Napoca will go to the Association of Expert Forums directed by Sorin Ioniță. The organization is involved in helping residents of the Odessa and Chernivtsi regions, organizing the transport of aid collected through voluntary contributions to people in need in neighboring Romania.
