, won six awards at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA). Khan also personally won the awards for Best Director, Best Principal Director, and Best Screenplay. The movie star, Joamto Scanlan, won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of a British Muslim convert who discovers that her recently deceased husband had a second family in France. Talid Ariss, who plays her teenage son, won the award for best supporting actor at the ceremony on Sunday evening. The film was produced by Office and was released by the BFI UK.

It was a great evening for British Asian talent at the awards show, hosted by the comedian Asim Chaudhry. Adel Akhtar won the award for best actor for his performance in Clio Barnard‘s Ali and Ava [+see also:

, which also won the award for best music. Ahmed Rice won the Richard Harris Honorary Award for Outstanding Contribution by an Actor to British Cinema.

: Robinson Vinette won the award for Best Supporting Actress, Carolyn mccleod won the award for best casting, best photography was awarded Matthew Lewis, and the film also received the award for best sound.

The best documentary went to Paul Sng and Celeste Bell for Poly styrene: I’m a cliché. The film also won the Raindance Discovery Award.

Finally, the Special Jury Prize was awarded to Raise Movies, which supports and campaigns for parents and carers working in the UK screen sector.
